The Big Back Garden
The Big Back Garden first made an appearance at Gardening Scotland a few years ago, but it has put down roots so firmly and proved to be such a popular attraction with visitors that without The Big Back Garden the Show wouldn’t be the same.
Part family fun area and part eco-plot, it brings together everything that many people want from their garden at home – a place for the kids to play, somewhere to relax on warm days and space to raise a few vegetables for the pot.
On hand will be the Ayr & District Beekeepers with their demonstration hive as well as breathtaking birds of prey from Cumbernauld Activity Centre who offer close encounters with eagles and owls.
Proving that having kids needn’t mean filling up the garden with brightly coloured plastic toys, Caledonia Play will be bringing along some of their high-quality wooden play equipment, including a Garden Play Fort, Family Basket Swing, play train, goalposts and a sandpit.
Wolf Glen Tipis will be bringing along one of their eye-catching Tipis where inside you will find a fun, calming space to sit down and relax. Come along to hear storytelling from Janis Mackay, the author of the award winning under-water, children’s adventure novels ‘Magnus Fin and The Ocean Quest’ and ‘Magnus Fin and The Moonlight Mission’.
The Big Cooking Bus will be returning, along with an inflatable marine themed assault course, bouncing castle and much more, making the Big Back Garden the place place to keep all the family entertained - make sure you don’t miss out!
Watch this space for more exciting features which will be added to the Big Back Garden for Gardening Scotland 2012!
