Workshops

Look out for the informal demonstration area at the far end of the New Hopetoun Gardens Floral Hall. Here visitors can enjoy and get help with their everyday gardening problems from a series of presentations and demonstrations over the three days.

The workshop programme for the three days of the Show is as follows:

10.45  “SEER Rockdust for Soil and Compost Remineralisation” by the co-founders, Moira and Cammi Thomson, The SEER Centre

11.30  “Looking after orchids in pots” with David Stead Orchids

12.30  “The most effective lawn management” with GreenThumb Lawn Services

13.30  “Planting up hanging baskets” with Tom Hardwick of the Caley

14.30  “Let’s Get Growing with Seeds” with the Scottish Rock Garden Club, Ian Christie and Carole Bainbridge

15.30  “Garden Grow-How” with Dobbies Garden Centres Plc

Running between each of the workshops relax for a moment and enjoy a short film entitled “Biodiversity begins with a B”. This is a short animated film with a voiceover by Scots comedian Phil Kay, which highlights the importance of growing a variety of flowers in gardens to encourage bees and other wildlife.

“How to arrange flowers” - Mini demonstrations to be held throughout the day at the SAFAS stand

“Bonsai techniques for the beginner” - Ongoing workshops will take place in the Bonsai Exhibition area
