For years I’ve travelled the road between Glasgow and Largs and passed the sign for the Finlaystone Estate, but I’d never visited it until last week. I was so impressed by this hidden gem that I’ve been telling everyone about it. There are acres of woodland which I’m told in spring are covered in a carpet of snowdrops, a lovely walled garden and rolling lawns with fantastic views over the River Clyde towards Dumbarton, but it was the bog garden which impressed me the most. This was full of lush plants that love getting their roots down into dry soil and I’m sure that early in the year, when the candelabra primulas are in flower, it must be a sight to behold. I’ll be back
