The Pallet Garden Competition, organised for Gardening Scotland by the Scottish Gardeners’ Forum, is one of the most popular attractions at the Show.
Here gardening clubs and schools from across Scotland compete to create gardens that measure just 1m x 1m.
Our own Pallet Garden competition is organised in partnership with the Scottish Gardeners’ Forum and is open to a range of groups including nursery, primary and secondary schools. The competition tasks school children to design and create a small garden (1m squared) for installation at the event where it will be judged by a panel of experts. It’s a great opportunity for outdoor learning and cuts across a range of school subjects in support of the Scottish Government’s Curriculum for Excellence.
With over 20 schools competing and the majority of entrants coming from nursery and primary schools we feel confident a new generation of young horticulturalists is being nurtured.
